Hiring standards are minimums which every new hire meets and most exceed. No one has said that has changed. The issue that people have is minority status being considered as an achievement, thereby moving them ahead of more accomplished candidates. Hiring based on one's minority status has been illegal for years, but only enforceable through litigation. Most people don't have the funds or the time to deal with that.
Regardless, this is less relevant today when we are hiring many people near the minimums anyway.
