Another guy for having a masters degree in finance & another for having a parent working in the training department. None of these have anything to do with making a better pilot, but there’s only one that people are crying about. That’s where the hypocrisy lies.
Most of us had help along the way & played whatever angle we had available to distinguish ourselves. It would be asinine to expect you to “own up” to playing an advantage in the hiring process when we’ve all done the same thing to whatever extent possible. And as you said yourself, you’ve had to meet the same standards as the rest of us, so at the end of the day, what does it matter if your points came from your race, your rank, your family connections, or anywhere else?
Actually, two of those things make a better pilot, all else being equal.
