That all said timing is everything. I punched out of the airlines for the lost decade. Some went to allegiant and stayed because they hit the timing right. Don’t blame them for staying. It’s a great job for some. It isn’t for **** if you are in the bottom bracket of seniority. I was hired at allegiant in 2020. Sticking around would have been asinine considering how much movement there is right now at the legacies.
timing is everything. The airline marg works for is not the same airline as greyhound.
oh and I’ll take the bet on Mexico. No way that happens.
Ah, another pilot that can't move on. If things are so great where you're at, why live on the allegiant forums? This sudden insinuation that I was furloughed from the legacy I was at is as comical as the rest of the statements made on here. I'm not sure if you're just a 20 something that hasn't figured this out yet, but it doesn't matter which carrier you're at, seniority is everything and being the plug can suck regardless of what ship you're on.
Now this statement that marg and I work for a different airline is a half truth. Marg chose his Florida base, just as everyone else based down there did. The work rules aren't a secret, and neither is that he and I are in a similar "bracket" of seniority. What is a secret is that he'll never be the one to tell you he chooses to stay, or perhaps he's not capable of leaving. I don't blame him, the sun, the water, the ability to see his family every night. He knows as do the rest of you that if you leave, you won't see day trips at another carrier for years.
Viva: It will likely get approved. Have we seen anything from IBT aside from the poorly written rant of a DOT filing? We haven't. The sad reality is that 2118 had the opportunity to really paint a d*mn*ng picture of the company in response to the DOT comment period, but instead they submitted a 1 page letter that comes across as a midnight message to an ex lover's new partner. Meanwhile, every ALPA carrier, SWAPA, APA are all playing directly to the consumer. At this point, the best we can hope for is that the company is truthful in their DOT filings and they truly do intend on having us flying to the beaches. Perhaps they lie, but lying in federal filings is a bit more costly than bending the reserve rules that we wrote.
