If those still exist please elaborate because I would guess at least a few hundred pilots would be interested in how long it takes to get the qol of an Allegiant, but with legacy rates and bennies.
And like many in my family would say in spanish.... "Alli esta el detalle!". Which translates to "There's the detail!". Lets leave aside that Margi along with a handful that come off like bitter doom and gloom artists. A lot of what they say is true. Such as, that this management can't really be trusted, that is toxic and they'll push their own mother down a flight of stairs for profit one thing is for sure. That if you actually live in BASE, even if your junior on reserve, Allegiant still provides a better QOL than any reserve pilot COMMUTING at just about any legacy. Of course, that up until you get TDY'ed, or get limo'ed between SFB and PIE; but that's a whole other story.
The real problem here isn't that we aren't making "Delta+10 money" or that we don't have reserve rules or days off like some of the legacies. It's that this management doesn't seem to really respect this pilot group enough to settle for BASIC INDUSTRY STANDARD. It doesn't have to be everything, but it needs to be most. Especially when it comes to work rules, not to mention RESERVE rules.
Here's what ANYONE should look at and consider when coming to Allegiant.
1- Is your goal a legacy?
If this is the goal, then come here, get a pay check, deal with the bull***t of being junior (like anywhere else) and when you get a chance bolt out this b***ch. If your goal is to do day trips, and you live in one of our bases, then come over and roll the dice (It's all a roll of the dice anywhere at this point). We will get a contract at some point, and things WILL IMPROVE. They did in 2016, and they will again soon.
2- Are you willing to move for an upgrade or better QOL at Allegiant? Well, then you're flexible. That means you will do just fine as well at another Legacy. The difference is, QOL... What do you want? Day trips, or multi day trips. Yes, more money elsewhere, but like everything else, the future is uncertain. The legacies, can and WILL at some point be shaken by the economy, market or whatever, and you might find yourself displaced out of your base/aircraft and commuting. Could happen here too, anything is possible
3- I have ex-colleagues and friends at every airline, and just like Allegiant they talk about their "doom and gloomers". Yes, they have them there too. So if you want to base your decision about toxicity and morale of this place because of a few here that just can't help themselves in "keeping it real", then you're gonna find the same at other places. I have friends at Southwest, AA, and FedEx. Believe me, some people are thinking about jumping ship because of the "morale" and negativity they deal on almost a daily basis.
My advice to ANYONE that is considering coming here is this....
If you tune out all the drama and negativity from a very very few, then you'll find that this job is pretty chill overall (some days suck yes), but overall its easy flying and the QOL can't be beat. But make no mistake, this management is so absolutely TONE FU******G DEAF that although they think they're progressing, IF they could take consessions instead of upping everything they would. But then again, show me a management ANYWHERE in any industry that isn't the same. Allegiant will ALWAYS not meet the standards or ambitions of those that desire the LEGACY life and glory. i do believe it will at some point soon provide something much better that it has. As long as they can continue to give its pilots this "QOL" or something close to it, there will be plenty of people to gut it out. If they decide to be a "real airline" (dump day trips) at some point and choose to keep this SH******T contract and their ways, then you will without a doubt see many more people vacate the premises. Majority gut it out, because of the QOL and living in base. If QOL goes, then it wont matter if you live in base unless you're a super senior captain, instructor or APD; but we're not there yet. Best thing right now for many of us is patience, and hope. Hope that something fruitful and good will happened in the next few months with the NMB negotiations.
So, in closing. If your goal is a legacy, and you have the flight time, then don't waste your time. Do your best to go to a legacy! If you still need the time, and for some reason you want to come here to test the waters and see what the fuzz is all about, then come on over and roll the dice. But, if you want to come here for QOL, you don't want to commute, and a Legacy is not in your agenda? Then again, roll the dice like most of us and join the team. We will get a good contract soon.
