When I wasn’t getting a nibble and I had fulfilled all the “required” qualifications…while SPECIFIC individuals who did not, were hired….that will cause heartburn. I’m not speaking in generalizations….I can name at least 5 specific people I worked with who were hired a couple years before I was able to. The hiring environment USED to be brutal. Every interview was worth $1 million. When there are limited spots on the lifeboat…and you aren’t getting on….it’s not as easy to just “wish people well” and peacefully accept your career isn’t advancing because you happen to be born into a group that’s strongly represented already. This all changes when you are finally on the better side of the fence. I begrudge NOBODY their opportunity. I don’t GAF about who we hire as long as they are safe and I can stand them for 4 days.
