Delta is infatuated with image…which is weird. We pull guys aside and tell them they need to go business casual in sim but don’t wear a tie to the checkride.

Why are we so different sometimes? We rename things that are industry standard everywhere else.

Inverse assignment = Junior assigned

Payload optimized = Weight restricted

Flight superintendent = Dispatcher

Why don’t we put a tab in the checklist holder on the 737 or better yet, why didn’t Boeing do that? Because we are the only airline that folds it. No other airline does that, so it’s not a problem for everyone else. It’s still our culture to be stupid and fold it into 4 instead of in half which would negate them getting wedged in the holder. Why are we as a group so inept to just figure that out? There is a trend to fold it in half instead of 4, which means as a species, some 73 drivers are forward developing.

Back to your comment…and off the tangent.

Being from the Northwestern part of the country, I look at a male sporting a trench, I think of two things. They are going to whip it open and be naked or start mowing people down with an AK. They are simply creepy looking out west. Oh yeah, they absorb water instead of wick it. So maybe it was the functionality that led to the mindset.

Why do other airlines sport the antiquated leather coat? Because it works and doesn’t put off a creeper vibe. A time for change is warranted sometimes.
