once the gear is in the wells,night flight is beautiful,I was a DC-3, and piston Convair freightdog,back in the day,and saw many a sunset and sunrise , on the same tour,even when I flew the 727,there was a fair amount of late night transcons, aloft,level at fl360,under the Milky Way,the cockpit lights turned way down low, cleared direct TwentyNine Palms from over 1500 miles out LAX bound, fresh hot coffee in the cupholder,well ,that made for a lovely,if weary nights work.
