They have plenty of 25-35 year old captains. It’s not the 60+ year old retired fighter pilot and 35 year 60+ year old crusty guy in the left seat it used to be, with a bunch of young guys now in both seats. All of my delta buds came from various backgrounds and aren’t exactly dry. I jumpseat on B6/DL/AA a lot. None is really different than the other culturally. But, whatever makes bluebelles feel better about their choices in life.
I think it’s hard to change the culture completely and it’s not something I would use to pick where I work. Some of the newcomers at Delta will mimic the behavior of the older captains they fly with. Same with American….that place will probably always have some toxicity to it.
