Foreflight just interviewed him:
Ernie Meeks – “Flying with Big Ern” on YouTube and social media – has an impressive resume. He flew the C-5 Galaxy and KC-135 Stratotanker in the U.S. Air Force, business jets for a fractional carrier, and now flies the Boeing 737 as a Captain and recruiter at Southwest Airlines. In his spare time, he flies his Cirrus SR22 Turbo, mostly around the southwestern U.S.
On the latest episode of Between Two Wings, Ernie shares what inspired him to start documenting his trips for his 80,000+ followers. He also talks about what makes pilots applying to Southwest stand out in the interview process, how his passion for aviation led him to start his own business, his favorite destinations to fly for food – including some of the best pie – and the last-minute decision that probably kept him from getting kicked out of Air Force pilot training.
