With Qatar taking their A350 orders again and Air India making that large order, I think the A350 possability "deal" has cooled down. Delta rarely likes paying high prices, and with Airbus selling a lot of them lately, I doubt they are giving any deals on them now. Also, there might not be production slots when we want/need them either.
Delta uses black swans (and grey ones too) for their big financial moves. Wait until Airbus needs something then pounce. Or Boeing, or SWA, or Lion air, or LATAM, or...
