It's all relative, Delta has either the best or close to best reserve rules in the industry with the new contract and previous ones weren't all that bad in a lot of ways.
Seat lock will be 2 years from award.
Since you can put all your reserve days in a row here even commuting a long distance junior can be relatively simple. Living closer is better though and within short call leash changes a lot.
NYC is extra junior becuase non locals aren't always thrilled with the prospect of multiple airports. It's not so much that it's bad here as it is many choose to be senior in NYC or junior closer to home. If you live anywhere near one of the three NYC airports you can assuredly take advantage.
