I noticed something. The names of those praising the company and saying everyone else is lying seem to rotate. Some days it's Nate702. Some days it's J3Cub. We haven't seen Coehill in quite a while, but "suddenly" he's really active. Anyone still reading this thread (probably very few since very few pilots seriously want to work here) would be wise to use some context. It doesn't help that APC doesn't allow you to see a poster's full posting history any more.
All of these names have always been very pro company in all of their posts. Usually, their arguments come down to trite statements like "you're a liar/idiot" or some other personal attack. They are a person of low intelligence, very likely the same person with multiple accounts. Doubtfully actually management, because surprisingly, most of the people actually running allegiant are smarter than that. More likely a scared senior lifer with no other options, or golden handcuffs, that's terrified all these rabble rousers rocking the boat will ruin this great thing they have going. So they are going to go out of their way to promote this place and keep the pyramid scheme going. They are here to "prove" guys like me and Tom and KC135 and Rockford are just liars trying to hurt the company, and everything is hunky dory here. In fact it's telling that they have created almost one online personality for each of us.
Hey, if Coehill actually does talk to you, pm me his name. I'd love to know. Is he a recruiter? Sure, of course he wants to take the conversation private, because then nobody else can rebut the lies he'll tell you about how great it is to work here.
Then there's Greyhound89. That one is a smart cookie. Most likely an actual member of management here to troll, or a HarrisonFord (the company's union busting law firm) employee. The words they use and their sentence structure screams online MBA or law student. They definitely don't talk like a pilot. It's fun that they have quieted down since we all called them out for what they are. Pure management troll, despite their claims otherwise. Sleazy used car salesman tactics. Yeah, probably a lawyer.
So if you're thinking about working here, and have a private conversation with one of them, ask them how long they have worked here (maybe they'll actually be truthful). If it's 5+ years, they have a life you'll never have. Growth has stopped at this company, and even if it doesn't shrink, you'll never reach their level of seniority. You'll be moving up at the retirement rate of less than 50 pilots per year. They are selling you an ideal you'll never see. Even as an 8 ish year captain at this airline, I was middle of the pack in my base, on reserve several months out of the year, and involuntarily sent out TDY several times a year. I only saw that getting worse if the place shrinks, so I left for a legacy in my early 50s. No regrets.
What you'll really get here is maybe the base you want, but more likely not. You'll take home $2500 a month as a newhire on reserve, unable to work overtime. You'll be 2 leg commuting to some godforsaken place that likely only has service on Allegiant or RJs. You'll have 11 days off (reduced to 10 days 3 months out of the year) and your days off will be scattered single days. Maybe if you're lucky you could hold 2 blocks of 3 consecutive days off in a month instead of the contractually allowable 3 blocks of 2 days. You'll spend a day one each end commuting, so it's not likely you'll be going home. You'll also have to rent an apartment since most of allegiant's bases aren't the sort of places where crew member crash pads exist - nobody else has bases there. So there goes another $1500 a month. How are you going to live like that? THIS IS THE REALITY OF BEING AN ALLEGIANT NEWHIRE.
Sure, the seniors here will tell you how awesome their life is how they fly a big ass Airbus in the morning, then come home, boink the wife, go fishing, have dinner with the family, kiss the kids, then do it all over again tomorrow for $200,000 a year. You will not have this life, because these seniors here have 10-20 years left before retirement. They aren't getting out of that seat any time soon. They just need expendables under them to keep the pyramid from collapsing and making them have to go start over at a real job or get downgraded to reserve when it shrinks. I know, they're scared and they're lashing out.
Don't be fooled. So many have sent me private messages thanking me for warning them about this place. Many others have messaged me saying they wished they took my advice, but thankfully have gotten out to a real airline and realized how much better it is. Don't fall for the kool-aid and propaganda that the management trolls and scared lifers are selling here. You'll regret it. Go to another LCC, or even a regional (where they make a lot more money than allegiant (and have career advancement opportunities), then progress to a legacy. Don't waste your life hoping to someday be senior at a part time flying job.
You've been warned.
