Reminds me of Dr. Michael Debakey, the famous heart surgeon. He chided another surgeon, at his 65th birthday retirement. He was well into his 80s at the time. Kept operating until almost 100.
If the name does not click, Debakey invented heart bypass surgery, and many other advances that extended the lives of millions. In Houston, at Methodist Hospital, the heart section of the hospital is the Debakey Heart Institute.
My mother had a triple bypass at age 70. Her surgeon was trained by Dr. Debakey. She lived until age 94. Her heart was still fine when she passed away.
Good health, passing rigorous physical and mental exams — retire when you want. That is going to happen in the next couple of decades.
