Jetjock...in your defense, I personally know a Sabreliner captain that was hired as PIC with 250 hours; the ink still wet on his commercial MEL certificate. Whether or not this is safe is another question, but it happens.

PS - welcome to the roller coaster that is ASA! You will come to love the crews. I've loved every minute of my 2 years here so far.
