And you're a god damn airline pilot. Act like it.
You don't end up at the destination with enough fuel by coincidence or mistake. You don't get on the shuttle by accident. You don't guess about the weather, the rotation speed, or where you'll stay tonight.
Perhaps you're incapable of carrying enough shirts to get through a trip or remembering socks that match, but then that's why you get paid the big dollars.
You can probably remember to pack a few fives for your upcoming trip, too. I really bet you can.
However, if you were too dense to remember to bring change then yeah, give them the twenty. Maybe next time, you'll remember.

And your suggestion of putting five hundred in fives in your bag, you don't possibly think that's a good idea. Sheesh.
You can't plan for a four day trip? Seriously? You need to get out of aviation now, before someone gets hurt. Truly remarkable. How did you make it this far? How do you open the door to your car to drive to the airport? Have you ever come close to starvation because you couldn't remember to eat? Forget to breathe, sometimes? Really?
Yes, I do go to the bank and get a hundred bucks in fives, and put them in my bag, strictly for tipping. I usually keep several hundred in there, because I do a lot more than four day trips, and I tip for things other than the van ride, too.
Don't be so cheap that not even a pawn shop would take you.
