It's not being cheap, it's more so the afternoon interview. I'm an early riser, so I'd have a lot of time to kill in the hotel in the morning. Even if I could get a late check out (I'd guess noon most places), I'd still have to find something to do to kill time before going to the interview.
If it’s not about the money then get a room for two nights. That’s what I did. You won’t use it the second night, but you’ll have it to use all day.
