If you were a senior FO with 1900 hours at C5 trying to ride it out in IAD without upgrading and being banished to IAH, you'd probably be pretty ****ed. If you were a captain with close to 1600 hours you would probably be elated because "you now qualify to flow at some point" just turned into "you will flow in the next few months".
That is incorrect. The new route is intended
for people new(ish) to AVIATE. Only hours logged after March 1 of this year count toward the new 1600 PIC rule (APG 5.B.1). And no FO's with 1900 hours have a reason to be ****ed. They still qualify under the rules of the previous version of AVIATE (APG 5.C.). Unless are in the bottom quarter of the seniority list
and you can max out your Part 117 flight time limits, the previous version of Aviate will still be faster. And if you use the previous program rules United will stand by its previous transition timeline.
