Can you do me a favor, go and compare NWA's new payscale for 100 seat aircraft and CAL's pay for the 737-500 (which I think is their smallest at about 106 seats) and see how they compare. I hope my numbers are wrong but I don't believe so.
CAL's 737-500's have 112 and 114 seats. The current pay (with concessions) is:
2nd year FO: $54.74 5th year FO: $80.40
5th year CA: $135.33 10th year CA: $141.63
Contract pay increases in 7/2007 and 7/2008. Current time to upgrade on the 737 in EWR is about 3-4 years.
I know nothing of the NWA contract or pay. I would never say anything bad about another company's contract/bankruptcy/pay/etc. I've seen the pay deteriorate industry wide and I do not blame the pilots at any airline. CAL pilots should know better. Consider thier history: strikes, bankruptcies and mergers. Things are not always in your own control.
