On their own timelines & in their own way, 15,000 people care a little less; so they do a little less. It takes time, but the longer it goes on, the worse it gets.

Up until TUMI 1, this company was selling a lot of pilots on doing extras. It was catching on. That was a narrow window of opportunity where a great contract would have made them rockstars. Imagine if we had gotten DAL’s contract before DAL did. Guys would have been over the moon. The whole “taking pride in the brand” movement would have exploded overnight.

The irony is, today, that same contract would move the needle far less. By the summer, maybe not at all. The longer they drag this on, they’ll just end up spending the same money for a rapidly diminishing reward. Whether they believe it or not, they are losing to the clock.
