that’s the issue.

There is ZERO predictability to our SC or FSB conversions, too. I remember one month where I’d already had 3 unused Short Calls, so I figured maybe I was safe for a day (I still had 4 days left in my reserve block). What did scheduling do? They gave every-single-person with 4 days left a Short Call. The whole block of us got one.

Reserve here sucks and improving it will improve the lives of everyone, even line holders. I wish some of the senior “reserve is a choice” people could see it.
Yeah and this scenario plays out almost everywhere, regardless of the work rules involved. Commuting is a nightmare inducing, soul crushing endeavor and anyone that says it isnt bad is simply living with Stockholm syndrome. I speak from a place of knowledge as I once thought commuting was OK, because I had convinced myself it was.

Living in base is the single biggest QOL improvement you can make in this career, way above who's name is on the tail, contracts, type of flying, WB/NB, type of food first class gets, is there first class, international, domestic etc. All of that will go away when you have to deal with commuting, more so to reserve.

DL is a great company with cool flying, but I wouldn't trade that for a commute if my life depended on it assuming there was an airline in my town I lived in that was comparable. Sure I understand not everyone can move or live in a base, that is unfortunate and they will justify it, rightly so with things like family life, in-laws etc, but if you have a choice, live in base.

OK, I think I hammered that nail lol. Good luck to you on whatever choice you make OP.
