If I was going to be a commuter to both airlines, had less than 5 years on property and more than 10 years to go until I retired, I’d be gone to Delta based on the last NC update. You can make up for any lost wages by taking the upgrade at DAL at 400hrs and being junior in the left seat of a NB or right seat of a WB doesn’t suck nearly as much with 18hr long call no rolled days off and single flight requirements for commuting.
I was responding to pipeman who said he lived closer to a UAL base. But sure if the difference is commuting vs driving i can understand the jump- but..
But we all need to take a step back and realize "leaving somewhere under 2-5 yrs" ain't what it used to be. Leaving inside 2 yrs used to mean eating maybe 700-1200 numbers. It's frigging 5000-10000 numbers now, so just be careful because that's seniority you lose for good. In today's wave, I'd say you need to jump inside 6 months if you're going to.
