Fortunately with growth and attrition most new hires move into a line quickly in junior bases. Day turns go very senior, but night red eye turns do not, fortunately those are commutable. We have preferential bidding, so lines are what you get when it gets to you, but even junior line holders have opportunities to swap out with open time and a lot of pilots never actually fly the lines they were awarded, but again this is base dependent. Your best bet is to find a cheap crash pad for the first few months until you get acclimated.
