This airplane and a lot of the day-to-day job duties are significantly easier than my regional time. They’ve been hiring nonstop (well, almost) 1500 1250 and 1000 hour guys for a decade now; before that obviously significantly less time. I don’t get why so many people want to dunk on them, all of us were new to a jet unless you were one of the military guys (and then we can mention how they strap you into a turboprop, or a turboshaft helicopter, on day 1, so the point stands).
They seemed as eager and sharp in class, as anyone else. Ground school was laid back since historically we all knew generic jet systems, how to read a release, alternate weather exemptions. If anything they needed just a little bit more time to get up to speed on that. But we got through it in regional ground school, they got through it here even if it took a little extra study. I think your point is apt; it’s not just every CFI, they’re still a small selection of a candidate pool.
