The reason we probably have this rule is because GS Ninjas would routinely call in sick for a trip and then call in well before the trip was over if they saw a GS opportunity. If they were still getting paid for a trip after calling in well they would not be eligible for a GS.
That's not right Scoop. It used to be that way, but we changed it the same time we added the ability to "fly back" sick time if you pick up a trip after calling in well that touched the footprint of the original trip you were sick for. I don't recall if that was done in TA2 or if it was C2012, but one of those changed it. If you are out sick and call in well mid rotation, you are paid sick leave hours for the entire trip. You then have the option to pick something up and fly back the hours used from your sick bank to cover the time after you called in well, if you choose to. This was done to eliminate pilot's waiting till the trip was over to call in well. Call in well as soon as you are well and there is not a pay consequence for it being mid rotation.

RightSide should follow FangsF15's suggestion.
