I'm a 757/767 ORD-based FO at UA. I live in the Chicago suburbs so United works great for me, but it can be pretty rough for commuters. Current contract it's unlimited short call conversions, so you'd want a crash pad or hotel. I'm from Indiana and I commuted out of IND for a while. Lot of UA and AA flights all day to ORD, but still, commuting to not get used for SC is soul sucking at best. I don't get used much at all on this fleet on reserve so that's nice. Will see how it is in the summer. I have yet to get rolled into off days (I'm global reserve) but it does happen. Delta is far better for commuters, and their jumpseat rules are generally better. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either if you want WB flying. I love the flying we do on the 756, but the 777 and 787 also have awesome trips. I'm sure Delta does too. Delta does have the contract already so that's something, but we're hopeful that UA's is coming soon, and it should be in the ballpark of Delta or *hopefully* better. Time will tell. But if you end up at either you wouldn't lose. But definitely go to Delta and then make your choice if you get the CJO at UA.
