Yup. Normally, if something happens when you're doing your job, you're acting as an agent of the company and they're the liable party. If you're working outside the scope of your employment, however, it may absolve the company of that liability and put it on you.

FOM mention or not, I think you'd have a real uphill battle in court trying to prove that pushing wheelchairs is part of your job as an airline pilot.
