Come back when you're ready"?
With UPS you can only submit an app when their window is open. And if you don't get hired during the calendar year you have to reapply. I submitted in June 2022, interviewed November 2022, was told "congrats but standby" in December 2022, and I have till December 2023 to get a CJO or I'll have to apply again.
So, apply when you can and apply again every year you don't get hired if UPS is the place you want to end up. It's been a lot of waiting for me. Which makes sense...they're a relatively small flight operation. The upside is, imo, they have the easiest app to fill out--which is nice.
I'm currently at indoc at a big 3 legacy fwiw.
