How many people in the class? Those are the fleets that I would expect would have all the line pilots flying the line June-August. How are these people suppose to get trained since their training lines up exactly with summer high season? Maybe they’ll get the summer off.
The SLI’s flying the line all summer thing has been exaggerated. There are more instructors flying this summer than usual, but there are still plenty in the department taking students through initial qual as well as CQ. Also, Delta has hired a lot of DGS instructors over the last year who don’t ever fly the line.
So there will be less training, but it’s all relative. There are even instructors that volunteered to fly in June that will remain in the simulator because of training demand. Expect this to fluctuate each month this summer.
