You’re neglecting to mention that after a certain amount of sick use you need a doctor’s note. We don’t need a doctor’s note at AA for sick or sick if needed unless one sick call lasts two week<. Again, I personally prefer our system. To each his own.
I don't think occasionally asking for a doctor's note when you can call in sick for 270 hours per year is too onerous. Almost 4 months worth of sick with 5 weeks vacation....pretty soon pilots are only "working" 6 months per year for a full years W-2
