A lot of it has to do with them saving money. Think about it. You go to the inner cities and ghettos to try and get people interested in aviation. These kids come from nothing so they would be willing to work for much less than the upper middle class white kid who grows up around other successful people. Or the kid whose dad is a pilot and knows how much sacrifice the career takes.
Not being racist or condescending to the kids who don’t have the luxury of paying cash for flight training or needing extra assistance, but I think this is what is happening.
By the time they got the training and experience they would have lots of exposure to the full potential the airlines have to offer. They would and should not want to be treated differently.
There are currently initiatives to introduce impoverished kids to aviation. I think it’s a great opportunity for them to see that high earnings are within reach to everyone that commits themselves to the opportunities that are available.
