DHL is still operating Atlantic flights, just not as many (belly freight) and no longer with ABX overall (even ABX states they are moving to DHL owned operator). Listen to DHL Americas CEO on Bloomberg
Hiring not for attrition...that is the largest BS statement you could have possibly made! The model of short-staffing has been here 4ever with no change of that in sight. Ask management why the LDS training if you are so inquired, or even better ask Exco...I can save a moment. It's part of a grievance, plain and simple, all are required to be trained equally (including a/c differences). Next mth bid back will have 40+ LDS events again as well.
If you believe we are getting Atlas birds and the company is preemptively hiring, training, etc. prior to their arrival....you haven't been here long enough to know much of anything. We struggled (in all depts), and that's an understatement, to put on the last 4 CK birds. Of course they can do it again (add new a/c), just taxes limited resources and we fail timeliness. For now, it's all a pipe dream until there is some announcement.
Lastly of course ACMI comes/goes. By scale it affects the smallest carriers with drastic swings. Present course, by end of 2024 ABX will be down the 6 aircraft we gained over the last few years (2 DHL, 4 CK offset loss of 6 -200 AMZs)....all while ATI looses their 6 -200 and still gets 3 additional -300s this year (they will operate somewhere around 45+ frames with AMZ and combi).
Calm down, the sky is not falling. Getting the CK and the DHL aircraft online took no more or less than anywhere else, it is what it is. ABX is not going to lease a/c and park them on the ramp in KILN and wait for the phone to ring. DHL and Amazon have an idea what each carrier can handle and what is happening regarding training and attrition. Flying will come aircraft will be moved around...it all evens out. And since DHL has been paying for the LDS training, DHL also knows ABX can add LDS aircraft to it's certificate fairly quickly. It's not the great Boars Head, JMHO after 19 years in ACMI with ABX
