Not completely correct. There is an internal agreement that no SQ reserves will be used for domestic flying unless they’re only available for 2 or less days, in other words unable to cover a European trip. The trick is to put VDA at the end of your reserve block so you look available for a trip, and you may not get used.

This allegedly came about when they had to cancel a LHR leg because of no crews because they burned an SQ reserve on a domestic trip. That particular leg had Robins mother on board.

Of course, your mileage may vary…
