Climate was only optics, they knew the oil would be moved via railroads when they killed the pipeline, but wanted to scratch union backs and left backs at same time, and got to give the finger to big oil trying to lower transportation cost which would actually have a smaller overall carbon footprint via pipeline.
This^ why it doesn’t get talked about more is astounding. It’s all just political pandering and we’re just pawns, they’re keeping us in our neat little groups so we can be angry at each other. Easier that way.
Follow the money regarding who owns large portions a lot of these rail lines…
