I'm happy at Southwest after 14 years. My least favorite moments are the meltdowns and low cost cheap stuff like IT. The flexibility is great. I flew with Captains whose W2 was 577K one year, 542K the year before. Someone else had 620K. So the money is there if you need, but if you need a lot of days off, you can make it happen if you get on the computer a little. Look for a company in good financial health and bases that align with your life.
Anyone can hit that if they don't mind working 20 days a month. Sure the money is there, but at the COST of your time.
But when you see people at AA/DAL/UAL/FX hitting 550K and working 15 days a month MAX for it... It makes you go hmmmmm. Why do we accept lower pay? Worse work rules?
