So on the subject of SS# and drop...

There is an often used acronym BWYW, WWYB. "Bid What You Want, Want What You Bid." (I know, I know, EVERYONE knows this, but I state it for those who don't)

With the new process being put together your preference list and 'find out on day 1', look over your options and BWYW, WWYB.

Personal experience: SS# 04XX (Plug of my class, plug of the airline) I got 7ER (my dream plane). Converted to base of my choice in less than a year (back when the 7ER was in my base).

Bidding is an emotional process. Never assume that there is any logic in the system and never assume you can 'game' the system. You can strategize all you want, but make sure when all is said and done that you prioritize your 'wants' and know that, worst case, you might get something less-than-desirable and will need to hang out for a bit.
