The solution to the present crisis, is to pay a fair wage. A wage that at a minimum will allow you to live where you are based, allow you to pay for the education and experience that is required to obtain your job. Enough to entice the next generation to enter this "profession".
Last time the age changed there was zero movement for 5 years. It bankrupted flight schools because nobody wanted to get a 4 year degree, then spend $60k+ on ratings to NOT have a job. The age change was a stop gap for the corporations and they did nothing to help themselves staff for the future, now they are reeling.
There is only a shade over 110,000 Commercial pilots working in the USA. Have some self worth, demand a better contract and a fair wage, the managers have to capitulate, it's a supply and demand problem. You don't need to try to make it any easier for them. Enjoy your retirement.
