most of us still feel pretty content at work and I imagine our NPS reflects that. Most people I fly with do not pass around the cups of vitriol that exist here and are waiting for the actual TA to assess the state of our management team. At that point, if we get a mediocre QOL improvements with penny-for-penny delta rates (a la AA’s deal) I think it will get voted down, then perhaps heads will start rolling… Luckily, I think our MEC has a very good idea of what our group wants, and that we are unified in our resolve to extract every thing we can out of this contract cycle.
Let’s just pack it up then. We’ll get the contract we deserve.
I’ve never met the guy. I’m judging him solely based on his actions, not on some buddy buddy “how to meet friends and influence people” persona some suck up pilots see when they show up to little hikes and soirées to get a glimpse of “greatness”.
RE the management team, Tumi was an absolute scam. Management knew how ****ty a deal that was. Look at what delta got months later. Look at what American immediately proposed. They knew
exactly how much of a con job it was. I can buy that Kirby might have legitimately thought it was a good deal at the time based on his upper management. The fact that we’re still negotiating with the same lackeys that tried to hoist that concessionary contract on us shows he isn’t particularly interested in accomplishing the things he’s claiming (an industry leading contract, a deal in a few weeks). The fact that they’re refusing to even pass back sections for months is not a show of good faith. A simply misinformed leader would’ve apologized and cleaned house afterwards. Kirby did neither and is either incredibly oblivious/borderline incompetent (which I do not believe at all) or is well aware of this slow roll and is exploiting it for all its worth.
It’s the attempt at scamming us into a concessionary contract followed by 0 leadership change afterwards that leads me to believe Kirby isn’t nearly as genuine or honest as he appeared to me prior to Tumi.
