The last vacancy bid that had unfilled 787 FOs in EWR was the one that was awarded on April 11th. We have had two vacancy bids since then and neither of them had any unfilled slots in 787s in EWR.
Unfilled assignments on vacancy bids can be used for new hire assignments for up to 92 days after the bid award. So, the 40 unfilled assignments on the April vacancy award will expire on July 12th. Not sure how many of the the 40 they have already given out, but the last date for finishing them would be the July 11th class. After that the only way they could give them out is if we have another vacancy bid and more go unfilled. I would guess we will be having another vacancy bid in mid July, but one never knows for sure when they will come and what will be offered! So, classes on the 18th of July and beyond would only be able to get 787 out of EWR if we have another bid by then and more go unfilled.
There have been SFO 787 unfilled spots on the more recent vacancy bids, so there is still a chance of getting the 787 in classes after the 11th of July, they would just have to be in SFO.
The company gets to decide which of the unfilled assignments they want to fill in each class (up to the 92 day limit) , so you never know for sure which of them will come when (if at all). Generally it seems they are just trying to fill their training plan which currently is train as many people as you can in every fleet! So, they look at which active folks they need to send to training and how many new hires they have coming and use some kind of Gonkulator to determine what the best mix is of those two sources to fill all of their training slots? The inner programming of their gonkulator is a mystery to all, so we just wait and see what this thread shows as the training assignments every week.
