FAMS wants the jumpseat
FAMS management has already approached FAA requesting jumpseat access, and they believe they will get it. Their argument is that they want to be able to line-check FFDOs.
It is my opinion that, due to our current convoluted procedures and the recent accidental discharge, this is nothing more than a well timed jumpseat grab. Once the necessary improvements have been made to the FFDO SOP, there will be nothing for them to "check" in the cockpit, but the jumpseat will still be theirs and, mark my words, at higher priority than us.
