I did the AMR physical in the mid 2000s and it was a stressful experience. They told me I needed glasses. They wouldn’t give me the job until I got them. I went home to my regular eye doc and he told me AMR was crazy. My vision was 20/20. He said although it wasn’t 100% perfect it was still 20/20 and the weakest prescription he could give me was too strong and would make it technically no longer 20/20. I passed this information on to AMR and they made me get the glasses anyway. They made me get glasses that made my vision slightly worse. I complied and then just never wore the glasses unless I was flying with a LCA or getting a line check or had a fed in the jumpseat. Their computer cognitive test was also a ridiculous experience that I could ramble on about but I doubt many of you have even made it this far so I’ll spare you.
