SkyWest flies the E175’s into Sun Valley (SUN) and Eagle (EGE). The issue with Aspen is the balked landing procedure (go-around below minimums). The E175 just doesn’t have same performance as the CRJ 700. Supposedly they’re considering 50 seat E175’s for Aspen exclusively. They will eventually need a replacement for the CRJ 700’s. I believe most of the 700 fleet is nearing 20 years.
I bet a 50 seat E175 could be profitable to ASE, but to have enough in the fleet to be reliable I’m skeptical a 50 seat E175 would be profitable to other regional destinations… though the 550 continues to exist with GoJet so I’m just speculating.
