It discourages front and backloading the flying and throwing in a long layover where you don’t fly for a day, abusing average calendar day rules to not have to pay you extra. So now you’d get an extra 2:30 for that day in the middle with no flying.
Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't that be what the 5:15 (currently 5:00) for?
I've had several of those trips where you have a 4 day trip, with one day of zero flying or maybe a leg for 00:50 or something. Wouldn't the new contract require that trip to be paid out at 21:00? Where would the 2:30 come into play?
I say this because as a junior guy, I've had quite a few trips where there is extreme front or back end loading with a giant gap of sitting around in between.
