A pilot can bid for and be awarded a captain bid day one at the company if available and they meet 121 requirements.
however, they will not be permitted to train for such award until they either
A. have 350 hrs in type at UA; probation is not a limitation to train
or
B. If you don’t have 350 hrs in type, then you must be off probation and have 500 hrs (any type) af UA. (Same as current book)
IF someone is awarded a captain bid but does not meet the requirements to train, that slot will continue to be advertised on subsequent bids until they do meet the requirements (either A or B above), during which time, if someone who already meets the requirements bids for it, the pilot who doesn’t would lose their award.
Unless final language says differently, upgrading does not release you from probation.
