What you don't realize is the damage you do to these people when they default on their mortgages. And most marginal buyers will eventually.
Some will totally trash the house and find themselves facing a judgment for the rest of their lives if they can't get them dismissed in bankruptcy. Either way, their finances are crushed.
Others will become zombies and just walk away from the house leaving all of their belongings. I'll bet you've never walked through a foreclosure where the previous occupants left everything, including family photo albums and other memories of significant family events.
More than a few end up homeless.
No, they're better off as renters. Home ownership wrecks so many marginal buyers' lives. But someone like you ignore the damage you do with your misplaced empathy. You learned absolutely nothing from the great recession.
