Should I stay here at my 135, where I get worked like a dog and have no time off and no time to spend with my gf, and come out of pocket to get an ATP so I can try to go to an ULCC? Or should I jump to SkyWest if given the option? Will I be delaying going to a legacy by jumping to a regional first just to then try to go to an ULCC? Would love to hear any thoughts.
You’ll get about 80-90 hours of SIC block per month, with 11-12 days off per month, at SkyWest. You also just show up and fly. There is no other administrative or flight planning work you need to do in the 121 environment. If that sounds like a better deal to you, I would take it. I’m not sure it will make any difference toward your goal of working for a legacy, but passing 121 training in a large jet cannot hurt.
