You seem unable to grasp reality. There’s a difference between “doom and gloom” and simple fact. What I said is simple fact. The airline industry is cyclical as a whole, but also by sector. During COVID, the cargo industry was at its peak while the passenger industry struggled. Now the reverse is true. That’s reality, and maybe you were raised believing that throwing a temper tantrum gets you what you want, but the business world doesn’t really care about your emotions. The company has exactly zero incentive at this point to bring anything new to the table. Unless the global freight environment changes, we’re essentially negotiating during a recession in our industry. Again, you may not like to hear it, but facts are facts. The best thing the company can do (and no doubt will) is sit back and watch us flail. Regardless of why we voted the TA down, we’ve done them a huge favor. Saved them a lot of money at a time they really don’t want to spend any. The longer we take to get our **** together, the happier they are. Let’s hope the people who led the charge to reject the TA have a good plan to move forward.
Congratulations on a long and fruitful career/s. It sounds like you and your buddies have multiple pensions and health care outside of FX. Your demographic seems to be single issue voters and you can't blame a man for voting his own interests. As for me and the majority here, we will continue to emotionally throw temper tantrums until we get our way, lol. Thanks for the condescending lesson in how the business world operates by the way. I will say, contract negotiations don't have to take years. How hard is it to just fly your line? How hard is it to set the parking brake when things are not as they should be? How hard is it to tell scheduling I am fatigued? At FX, the answer to all of those questions unfortunately is VERY HARD. This place is full of people who can't unify because they don't think collectively. Culture takes time to change in a corporation and hopefully we are changing for the good. There are far too many guys here who are anti-union individualists who have been sky whoring for years. They spend each and every day refreshing open time to pay for their next toy, divorce, house, vacation, bad investment. If everyone would have just flew their line during Covid this would not be happening now. You would have had a good contract long ago. You were your own worst enemy. In closing, the tide has shifted and it seems this ain't your squadron buddy airline no more Rock. The snowflake, unhinged, emotional cry baby's are steering the ship and they actually care about scope. It is clear you don't but thankfully your voting block is growing more and more impotent.
