Brew, get some 121 experience before you post comments like that. Most everybody is content with the FLYING part of their job and just sick of the lifestyle of a 121. And you know what, I respect that guys that come here and complain about it just so the reality of this job comes into view. I'm a commuter, I usually have to commute in a night before, then spend 5 days on reserve and if I'm not called out... I end up paying 5 nights of hotel fees. Then, when its finally time to go home, it a luck factor if you can non-rev home that same night or if there are even any more flights back. Out of my 10 days off a month I would estimate I am only home for 6 of them. Being home for 6 days out of the month, while paying for hotels, and making only 20k a year.. there are real issues that arise from that.

I'm not sitting around and just complaining, I am persuing a lateral movement to another regional with a NY base all while inquiring about persuing a masters degree or even another line of work alltogether.

I love flying, I just dont like all the other BS associated with it. If you can make it in this industry that is freakin awesome, the sad reality is that many never do and end up career regional pilots. I will probably fly until I marry and then the joy of being home and spending time with my wife and kids will outweight the joys of flying and struggling to survive.

To end with.. Brew, I'm sure we'll see you in a few months or years back on the forum and complaining.. just like everybody else. And you know what, there is really nothing you can do about it when the unions and airline managment are sleeping in the same bed.
