Every little bit helps. In the past a type without operating experience didn't count for much, but it's still better to check the box than not. And for a single type airline, it assures them that you're a safe training risk.

Nothing to lose if you have the time and are sure you don't need or want the VA $ for something else, within it's shelf life. Make sure the training program is reputable, paying good $ for a pink slip would be counter-productive.

Personally I'd suggest you need some classroom time with an instructor, Bus isn't going to be at all easy to learn for a CFI trying to solo the 5,000 page manual and the airbus CBT's.
