This is a BIG opportunity for Management to make a statement to prospective and current Alaska pilots who are on the fence about committing their careers to the company. A letter has been sent from our MEC to management requesting that the pay disparity be rectified by Sept 1 (our scheduled pay bump date). If management does the right thing, I will be one of the first to recognize and support them. If not, I will do my best to guide the upcoming generation of pilots to companies that value them as professionals. Let’s see what happens.
Management won’t even offer the flight attendants anything worthy of their consideration, one can certainly argue different economic circumstances regarding pilot retention and attraction, but given their recent Q2 presentation and their emphasis on lowering costs it would seem unlikely they’d offer more than what they are contractually obligated too, not too mention it’s just not in their character to do so.
It would be nice though.
