Career progression/reserve etc is just the way the job works. Sometimes you move up 4000 numbers in two years and sometimes you’re stuck on reserve for a decade. “Unfair” is turning the seniority system upside down after basically a century of consistent respect and use.
I won’t be happy about it from a safety perspective but I also wouldn’t be apoplectic about the whole thing if it was contingent upon ICAO also adopting those rules. That’s the “fair” way to implement it imo. Doing this unilaterally is an insane violation of seniority.
